To find a relevant development path for the indigenous Fijian community on Moturiki island, indigenous values; knowledge and visions needs to be forming the strategy and lay the foundation of the Development plan. A development plan, with its roots in “western ways of doing things” will need to be reformed and restructured to meet its purpose. Here we will work with the challenge to rethink and expand are tools as architects and planners, to embrace and listen to new ways of describing life on the islands. We hope to take part in a learning and merging of knowledge.
AES will focus on representation. How to materialise cultural knowledge, assets and the ecosystems within drawing practice. We will strive to explore and develop maps and mappings to further express the current situation, but also open up for other possible futures.
