We left the city and spent the weekend at the coast in Sörmland, where we could do a 1:1 experiment in Cordwood building. We found all materials locally at the site.
First excavating the clay from the ground, the dense former seafloor had made a layer of solid clay under the top soil. We used dry grass and reeds to strengthen the mortar mix. Sand was gathered from the waterfront, and wood from the previous years clearing. From the small test we learned that little water is needed for the mortar mix, and we also have some need ideas on how to plan the construction and size of the wooden logs used.
