Thank you all that contributed to support the island of Moturiki after devastating cyclone Winston! Here is the update of how the funds have been used.
Sakiasi from Nasesara village on Moturiki island has now, together with all of the villages coordinated the support. The funds were distributed to all 10 villages, depending on needs.
The money was mainly used for construction materials, such as roofing iron, guttering, joints, taps, concrete to rebuild homes and community services. Providing for basic needs, shelter and clean water for the villagers. Solar batteries, fishing nets and farming tools, such as spades and forks, to support the subsistence lifestyle of the community was also purchased.
The community also decided to support individual members that lost close members in the storm. Part of the money was used to pay the school fees for children who’s families were severely affected.
